Tessitura co-founder Chuck Reif has announced his plans to retire at the end of 2025.

We hope you'll read Chuck's personal message to the Tessitura community below.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that we first started talking about developing a new technology solution — one built just for arts and culture organizations — at the Metropolitan Opera back in 1996. I could hardly have imagined then the evolution Tessitura would undergo since. I feel so lucky to have been on this amazing journey for the past 29 years.

Today, I’m writing to let you know that I plan to retire from Tessitura at the end of 2025. The executive team and I began working toward this day four years ago, when John Jakovich was named Tessitura’s Chief Innovation Officer, and I shifted my focus to special projects. During this time, we’ve completed some of the most significant work in our history, always innovating to support your needs.

When I’m asked what brings me the greatest job satisfaction, it’s easy to answer. I feel privileged to have watched thousands of our staff and members use Tessitura to start, nurture and advance their careers over nearly three decades.

And I’ve been fortunate to meet so many of you along the way. I came to New York in 1979 as a stage manager, and I did that for six years. Now, I still get to walk into some of the best theatres and cultural institutions around the globe and feel like I’m part of that world. It’s been an incredible gift. For that, I thank you.

I’m not entirely sure what I’ll be doing next, aside from a lot of sailing. But I leave feeling very confident in the future of our technology and of this company. I know the entire team is more than ready to carry on Tessitura’s amazing mission.

With gratitude,
Chuck
